Army attacks suspected militant hideouts near Pak-Afghan border

Army attacks suspected militant hideouts near Pak-Afghan border - World - DAWN.COM

The Pakistan Army on Friday night reportedly attacked suspected militant hideouts close to the Pak-Afghan border, DawnNews reported.

The army attacked the alleged training camp of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar located near the Pak-Afghan border and reportedly destroyed the compound and four other hideouts of suspected terrorists.

The military action was reportedly carried out near the Pak-Afghan border in areas adjacent to Mohmand and Khyber Agency.

The training camp of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar deputy commander Adil Bacha was reportedly destroyed in the attack and suspected militants were also killed, DawnNews reported quoting sources, however, these claims could not be independently verified.

The development comes hours after the Inter-Services Public Relations announced that the security forces have been given special orders to maintain strict vigilance all along the Pak-Afghan border.

“The border has been closed since last night due to security reasons. No cross-border or unauthorised entry will be allowed into Pakistan from Afghanistan,” read the ISPR statement.

This can be further re-confirmed when Afghans arw complaining about the heavy shelling from Pakistan Side...bite the dust....

PM Nawaz Sharif accompanied by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair &CM Sindh Shah while visiting Sehwan.

PM declares ‘full-scale war’ on terrorists

ISLAMABAD: Looking to have run short of patience in the face of a new wave of terror, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday declared an ‘all-out war’ on Pakistan’s ‘enemies’.

In an unusually strong-worded statement, the premier directed and authorised the armed forces and law enforcement agencies to eliminate the enemy — whether it be inside the country or ‘coming from outside’ of it – with the full force of the state.

Informed official sources said Prime Minister Nawaz chaired separate meetings in Islamabad, Sehwan and Nawabshah where security measures after the deadly blast at LaL Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine were reviewed. The meetings were attended by the security brass led by army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, military and civilian spymasters and members of the premier’s cabinet, including Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua.

After being advised by the security brass to ‘show no mercy’ to anti-state elements and their supporters and facilitators, Premier Nawaz approved the launch of full-scale targeted operations across the country to hunt down terrorists. More than 100 hardcore terrorists have already been taken out in intelligence-based operations (IBOs) throughout the country, government and security estimates suggest.

Moreover, the prime minister designated NSA Janjua as the focal person between the government and security agencies regarding the full-scale counterterrorism drive.

“This war will end, and it will conclude with the victory of our people, including our positive values that bind us,” Premier Nawaz said in a statement. “For the past many years, we have been fighting enemies both within and from abroad. We have faced dark days in our history. However, we have always come through with a resilience that has been an inspiration for the world.”

“It is time for us to unite and fight against the radicals … [whether] they be inside or coming from the outside. I direct and authorise my armed forces and law enforcement agencies to eliminate the enemy wherever it is with the full force of the state,” he added while chairing the top-level meeting in Sehwan.

According to the statement, the Sindh chief secretary briefed the prime minister on the grisly suicide attack in Sehwan, which has so far claimed 88 lives. The premier specifically directed the Sindh government to ensure foolproof security at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, the target of Thursday’s attack. “The Sindh chief minister assured the prime minister that each possible measure will be taken to improve the security of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine and other shrines in the province.”

Requesting anonymity, a government official privy to the matter said the instructions to eliminate the terrorists were issued sensing the gravity of the situation. “Extraordinary situation demands extraordinary steps.”

He said the terrorists taken out in targeted operations across the country also included those who escaped during the infamous jailbreaks in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan a few years back. “If you put these people in jail, they run way. If you present them before courts no one is going to testify against them out of fear. You only have the option to get rid of them.”

When I visited Qalandar's mazar many years ago, I was told that he started his mission in mid of brothel in Sehwan and cleaned the area with his preaching. Here are the facts about this Sufi his origin was Uzbek. He never called himself as muhajir and mingled with local population as though he was one of them. He said:

"Sindhri da Sehwan da Sakhi Shahbaz Qalinder"

      Lal Shahbaz Qalandar"-- Some facts.
      1. He was born in 583 AH or 1187 AD in Marwand town located near Afghan- Iran border.
      2. He was named as Syed Shah Hussain at the birth but later his father changed his name to Usman.
      3. "Shahbaz" was his title given to him because of his fearless expression of thought and unbound love to Almighty.
      4. He was also called as " Saif ul Lisan" due to his mastery over various languages and an eloquence in expression. His mother tongue was " Uzbeki" but had a full command over Arabic and Persian.
      5. He was known as "Lal- Red", because his skin complexion was reddish in tone and most importantly the colour of his eyes had always been slightly red which in English is called "Sanguine" color and in medical terminology it is known as " Dimvi" state. Besides, he loved the color Red. He used to clad himself in red cloths and carry a red flag in hand which symbolized the bloody tragdy of Karbala.
      6. He memorized Holy Quran by the age 7 and studied and mastered all branches of faith by the 21.
      7. He was known and accepted as " Qalandar" because he reached such a stage of faith where he had completely renounced the world and luxuries of living and used to express unbound love to Creator and His creation. While expressing love to the creation he never segregated human and animals; he loved and served unconditionally all the humans without any distinction of caste, creed, language or social status.
      8. He travelled throughout his life and on his last journey he reached Sewhan Sharif and made it his last abode.
      9. He lived about 112 year but spent only last six years in Sewhen.
      10. He is buried in Sehwan where his followers come in hordes to pay homage and participate in Dhamal- the Devesh Dance which had over the year become regular feature on every Friday night.
      11. It was during the Dhamal time that suicide bomber entered the crowd the other day and detonated the suicide vest, killing and maiming hundreds of Dhamili Darvesh, tuning the soil of Lal’s Shrine into Red.
