Skincare (Dryness)

Rate this Entry
I have started making changes to my skincare routine. I basically did not have one before and only used certain products rarely or for a very short time. Recently I have decided its time to start taking better care of my skin. With looking for a future husband and work I feel I need to up my routine.

I was having really dry skin at work with the cold weather recently and I looked into buying a good moisturizer. I have used Shea Butter before and still have it (but stopped using it out of sheer laziness) but this time I decided to try Mango Butter. It has made a difference it seems. I tend to use it the night before I go into work and I notice my hands dont get as dry as they were before. It got so bad the other week that I could literally hear the scraping of my fingers togethers because they were so dry! You only need a little bit because a little goes a long way. I will use a little bit before going to work sometimes and I dont tend to experience any major dryness as a result. Feel free to try it.

I bought some CeraVe healing ointment for my lips and it seems to be doing a decent job. I only apply it before work and at bedtime. I should probably apply it mid-day but I am fine with the results so far with the two time lip dob. If you saw my lips in the past you'd probably scream. My mom did when she saw my lips up-close one day. She literally yelled out, "Munni, what have you DONE to your LIPS?!!?! *horrified face* I'm a lip biter. *blush* Her reaction startled me. *giggle*

I tried the Eucerin Intensive Repair on my hands and face and it simply evaporated into my skin and therefore leaving it dry a little while later. I will not be buying that again. So far those are the main changes I have made. Need to make some more in the coming future but I dont want to overwhelm myself all at once.

What's your routine like for skincare/dryness? If you care to share.

I will have to check out CeraVe healing ointment for lips. I can drink tons of water, put on vaseline, chapstick but my lips are still dry especially in winter. Thanks for the tip.

Welcome. The healing ointment is not specifically for lips but I use the tiny tube. My lips still get dry during the day at times but its a marked improvement from before. I've been using it for a short time but it seems to be doing a decent job so far. By the way, I decided to try this because a dermatologist uses it on her lips.

It's great that you have started a routine! Never too early in my opinion! Mine is a little involved so I'll post later. Cavan's hands get very dry and I make him use Eucerin Intensive Repair as well. I keep a little travel one in my car for him

The best tip I’ve had for lips = lipstick! No jokes!
Over the last couple of months, I’ve started wearing lipstick to work - mainly because of dry lip issues, and partly because I now like looking awake and fresh I carry lipstick in my pocket at work and top it up when needed, and my lips have been the best they’ve been for years. Way better than when I was applying lip balms and Vaseline etc frequently

Edit: with lipstick, it took about a month for my lips to stop being dry (and ...scaly for want of a better word hahah) and now they’re always soft

I look forward to reading about it FBP!

Hoverer, I can use it but I work at a place where none of the girls use any makeup. I'm going to see how this treatment goes but thank you for the tip!

Skin care is more inside out, my wife has glowing skin and she eats tons of fruits and raw veggies. I think olive oil. fatty fish and nuts can also be good and high collagen foods also. Desis worry too much so managing stress and being happy and a brisk walk to improve circulation is good. I have a humidifier in my room that gives me better quality sleep, prevents sickness and dry skin.

Yeah, I don't eat fruits frequently.

Shea butter helps a lot. And I like that little tip on CeraVe ointment! I've used Vaseline at night and chapstick during day...it's just not enough.
