Here's a part of Pakistani history you've probably never heard about. These are people called Makrani. Originally hailing from Makran, Baluchistan. Mostly black slaves brought over by imperial forces. Over the centuries many of them have moved to slums of Karachi and merged with local life. One such slum known as Lyari. They're awesome soccer players. But being poor they have to deal with the ruling elite of all sports in Pakistan i.e punjabis.

Sports is kinda of our religion, It instills great values and develops you as a human being. I used it to keep my kids out of trouble and to develop discipline and leadership. I do hope they develop some sort of a soccer program for the kids back there. We get close to 100k a yr for our club by running a Casino and bingo and there are some other federal and provincial grants.

My friends father was the spiritual leader of the makrani people we would eat lots of food at the URS and play soccer with the talented Makrannis, they would wipe the floor with us but wouldn't kick the ball in the goal as it was disrespectful to score on Pir Sahibs sons team. I am hoping with the development of the port they see some windfall.
