How do you make Niyyat of Nafil Roza or Saum especially in Arabic?

      Thanks in advance.

PS> I have posted it here coz no one seems to reply it in other forum.

Main ne is nafil/nafli rozay ki niyat ki aaj.

Arabic aati nahin...agar takalluf karoon aur dimagh par zor doon to rozay ki normal ramazan wali dua main se sirf aakhir se lafz 'ramazan' nikaal doon ga.

Baaqi Allah Mian to niyat he dekhte hain bhai! :~)

      asalamualikum khan_sahib,

there is no requirement neither in the quran nor the sunnah of the prophet to make a 'verbal' niyyah for prayer or fasting. However since actions are by intentions, all you need to have is the intention in your heart. and allah knows best.

sidenote: since actions are by intentions, therefore hanafi ulema do hold that verbal niyyah should be made, but it is still not obligatory, just a recommendation in case you think you'll forget to make the niyyah in your heart.

      shukria bhai logoN

the problem was that bit in the niyyat ("wa-bis-saumay ghadin nawait-o min shahre ramadhan") that implies "I make niyyat in the month of Ramadhan for Tomorrow's fast."

I think that's the translation of it and I wasn't sure how to say it if you are making niyyat near 8'o clock in the morning.

      Thanks for the clarification.
