How does this word became representative of middle class?

Were colored clothes more expensive than white clothes, when this term was coined?

^ well bhaiya ur question is quite interesting.. with these 2 parts..

Firstly I would love to explain that Safaid Posh.. actually means The Person who wears white/glowing clothes...
Also its a term used for BHALA-MAANS...Innocent/ SHAREEF TABAA'A...Clam...

Secongly... it is actually representing the lower middle class.. with the people who are earning hand to mouth or maybe less.. but stanced firmly without asking for help...

And according to my point of view... color doesnt matters but the quality do...!!!

Boski is not a color, it type of cloth.. boski Double ghoRa

Some people in rural Sindh got special fondness for this Boski and they consider it status symbol

very well explained, but my question is why they selected white for middle class. were colors not affordable for this class. As far as I know, in old times, you couldn't have colored clothes and you have to ask rangrez to color white clothes. In our childhood, it was common that ladies used to send their dupattas to rangrez for coloring.

That posh is English. Meaning nice, cool, stylish, or like upper-class.
