In almost every culture on Earth discrimination against the female starts in the cradle, meted out by her own Dear Mother.

Sons are pampered by their Mothers lavished with Love, Mom's Pride and Joy.

On the other hand the daughters get the raw end of the Mom's attention, begining right from the first day they are born, Hai is ki Shadi kaisay hoay Gi, all the Negativity surfaces from Mom's bosom and envelopes the poor child all thru her up bringing.

Discrimination against women is taught by Mothers. the preferential treatment given to boys gives then an air of superiority.

Let us put the blame where it belongs!
I say love, it is a flower, and you, it's only seed!

Not entirely true...Yes in some/many cases sons are more favoured....but definetly not all.

My second pregnancy after having one daughter already, I still had a secret bias for another girl. Yes I do worry about shaadi etc BUT I know that there is someone out there to take care of all things as time comes.

Meanwhile I will enjoy both angels. I never never feel discontent or miss not having had a son. If i did have a son the second time round, I would have equally welcomed him into our lives.

I have also seen personally cases where sons abandon their duties towards their parents esp after marriage...so whats the big preference for sons??

I agree with SindSagar(SS). this is the case in our society. Girls are treated as burden. personally i do question the intelligence of such persons.

Girsl are girls are boys are boys, both have different responsibilities and rights. none can be preffered on other. Still if i have to prefer someone, i ll go for girls. As they are the true builders of the nation.
For Religion, we'll fight, kill & die but will never follow it, where's the fun in that!

      Just to add to it...

They are the true unrecognised builders of the nation.
